Check out the HPAC Program University of Cincinnati

The Health Professions Affinity Club provides high school students with insights into the roles and career paths of various healthcare professions. Students receive additional exposure and mentoring from professionals and alumni of UC’s colleges of medicine, pharmacy, nursing and allied health sciences, as well as current students.

Club members work with health professions coaches (HPCs) to design and complete projects to increase awareness of community health needs.

HPCs are AmeriCorps volunteers who visit high schools regularly, meet with students, teachers, administrators and coucelors to familiarize staff with university programs and scholarship opportunities, as well as organize workshops on topics such as financial aid and FAFSA Form completion. HPCs also coordinate visits to UC’s campus, set up career mentoring and shadowing opportunities, provide information on different healthcare career paths, identify students for the Health Professions Academy and facilitate outreach projects that meet education and health needs of the community.
